New directors need a director ID before appointment from 5 April 2022

From 5 April 2022, directors must apply for their director ID before they are appointed. Ensure your clients who are a director or are planning to become one to apply for their director identification number (director ID). If appointed between 1 November 2021 and 4 April 2022, your clients must apply for their director ID within 28 days of their appointment. The Australian Business Registry Services (ABRS) may reach out to directors who haven’t applied in time to provide support to help them meet their director ID obligation.
